It was 1962 when Eng. Vincenzo Pagnozzi began his research which then culminated with the construction of the first industrial plant with vacuum machinery for wood in the world. Sixty years have passed since that event, and the company founded by the engineer Vincenzo has witnessed the succession of three generations. First his son Ernesto, who joined Maspell in 1972 and is still an administrator today, then in 2005 his nephew, Dr. Umberto Pagnozzi, marked the journey of this company that has been able to renew itself over time, with new ideas and challenges, but always remaining anchored to tradition.

Commitment, perseverance and desire to make wood drying and heat treatment systems more and more efficient are the elements that gave rise to the first research on wood drying, and they are the same ones that still animate our work today. Being able to offer companies that have to carry out wood treatments the best technological solutions is still an important goal for us today. That challenge, which began sixty years ago, is still open, because research and innovation are in constant progress.
In fact, we have been able to take numerous steps since that distant 1962. The machines for drying wood have improved, and they have been joined by others capable of performing heat treatments in a perfect state of the art. The challenges we have faced and won over the years are truly many, and looking back we can see a path marked by many milestones and important patents. Industrial drying of wood represents, for companies in the wood sector, a process of fundamental importance to accelerate every production process, and WDE Maspell continues that path alongside them to make this process ever more fluid and simple. Each new machine allows for better performance, both in terms of speed and in terms of simplification of the woodworking process.
The most performing machines are enriched thanks to the evolution of multimedia dissemination channels and the introduction of management and technical software that allow the 3D rendering of the machines and an ever greater optimization in production. Meanwhile WDE Maspell is also working to make vacuum wood processing operations increasingly environmentally friendly and sustainable. Attention to environmental issues leads to treatments capable of making the natural material par excellence inerting and resistant to biodegradation without having to use pollutants. Thanks to the Termo Vuoto, in fact, 100% ecological wood is thermally transformed while maintaining all its main characteristics unaltered.
WDE Maspell research and innovation are increasingly at the center of Italian and foreign companies, which increasingly choose to bring Made in Italy excellence for woodworking into their production processes. Numerous awards have been obtained, including the prestigious SEAL OF EXCELLENCE award from the European Commission's Horizon 2020 program.
A long time has passed since that distant 1962, and many steps have been taken to give woodworking companies the best technological solutions, yet our gaze is still turned to the future, because we know that there is no boundary to research. That is why today, as we prepare to blow out the 60 candles of WDE Maspell, we continue to set ourselves new goals, new challenges to face and win. Each new WDE Maspell product is not a milestone for us but a new starting point. Sixty years ago we started our journey alongside the companies involved in the treatment of wood and today we continue that path together with them, together with the many companies that have already chosen us and those who will join us in this path towards the best technological solutions.
